To craft the casing fabric for our organic futons, we opt for pre-washed fabric, further enhancing both comfort and sustainability. This fabric undergoes a meticulous soaking process to pre-shrink the material and eliminate any impurities, guaranteeing a clean and eco-friendly foundation. Every stage of our manufacturing process takes place within our California-based factory, where skilled artisans sew the purified fabric into casings with precision and care. 2.25" Tatami mats are made of 100% compressed straw to form the core, with a covering of woven soft rush straw and a printed border.
This mattress is not recommended for use on a Bifold futon frame due to the absence of foam or any firm core. This leads to undefined edges, since cotton's inherent softness does not allow it to maintain a defined shape. Over time, the mattress is expected to flatten somewhat and increase in surface area, as its thickness expands lengthwise with use.
Please Note: Futons may be compressed during packing and shipping, making them appear smaller upon delivery. Please allow 1-2 weeks for your futon to expand to its average size.
