Care Instructions:
Regular vacuuming and occasional airing in sunlight are recommended to maintain freshness and prevent moisture build-up. Avoid placing in damp or humid environments for prolonged periods.
Note: Natural Rush Grass Scent/Odor
Our tatami mats are crafted from natural Igusa (rush grass), which may have a distinct grassy or earthy scent when first unboxed. This is a natural characteristic of authentic tatami and not a defect.
- The scent is typically strongest when the mat is first unpacked and may gradually fade over a few days to several weeks, depending on ventilation and humidity.
- Many customers find the aroma pleasant and calming, while others may be more sensitive.
- If you are sensitive to natural scents, we recommend airing the mats in a well-ventilated area before use.
