If you need to dispose of your old mattress or box spring in New York City, you must seal it in a plastic bag and schedule a bulk collection pick-up appointment. We will take care of all the heavy lifting for you. We will pick up your mattress right from where it is, seal it in a mattress bag and place it out for bulk collection or take it out with our truck.
How to schedule a pickup
If you do not dispose of mattresses or box springs properly, they will not be collected, and you may receive a $100 fine. New York City does not provide mattress or box spring bags or covers, so make sure you get them in advance.
If your mattress is small (4 feet by 3 feet and smaller), you do not have to schedule an appointment. You can place the item out according to your normal garbage schedule. You should make an appointment to have a mattress larger than 4 feet by 3 feet removed. You can report uncovered mattresses or box springs put out for collection.
Appointments cannot be made for City holidays or during times when the collection is suspended due to snow operations. You can schedule an appointment up to four weeks in advance. However, next day appointments must be scheduled by midnight the previous day.
Once you have got your mattress disposal bag and scheduled an appointment, seal the mattress and put it out with your regular garbage for bulk collection.
