Futonland loves to make sure our customers know how to make their products have an expanded lifespan. With this in mind, we decided to discuss cleaning a mattress. We know having a clean and protected mattress can help you get a better night’s rest. Simply vacuuming a mattress just isn’t enough when it comes to dust mites, allergens, bedbugs, and more.<\/p>\n

As I’m sure you already know, over time mattresses build up with dead skin cells, dust mites, and other critters. This is an inevitable happening for anyone. With that in mind, many others fail to take into consideration sweat and other bodily fluids that build up over prolonged use. Follow this guide to help you better care for your mattress.<\/p>\n

Now before we start, we strongly suggest purchasing one of these mattress protectors<\/a>\u2026 Before you start to clean the mattress you should wash and dry (based on manufacturer recommendations) all your bedding\u2026 i.e. Duvet, protector, sheets, etc\u2026<\/p>\n

Step 1. Vacuum it<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If applicable, use your upholstery attachment on the vacuum and do a quick wipe-down of the mattress. Starting from head to foot then down the sides.<\/p>\n

Step 2. Deodorize it<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Most people tend to become adjusted to their own body scent which seeps into a mattress (among various other scents) The best way to deodorize would be throwing an even layer of baking soda across the entire top of the mattress. Let it settle in for 10-15 minutes.<\/p>\n

Step 3. Scrub then vacuum again<\/strong><\/h2>\n

After you let it settle, scrub the baking soda into the mattress with a scrub brush. Get deep into the porous fabric\u2026 This will help be sure it’s saturated. Once completed, vacuum the baking soda off the mattress. Run your hand over top to make sure you got it all.<\/p>\n

Step 4. Now to stains<\/strong><\/h2>\n
